- selling ebooks as a "loss leader"? Really? It is a virtually zero-cost item. It is almost pure profit, minus the pittance they pay the author. Go Amazon! Drive those prices down. Ebooks should never cost more than 40% of the retail price of the cheapest form or the physical book available
